Book #17

I just finished reading book number 17 last night.

17. Looking For Native Ground: Contemporary Appalachian Poetry by Rita Sims Quillen

This is a collection of analytical essays on the nature and themese in Appalachian poetry. I read it to supplement an interview I was conducting with the author. Fascinating stuff!

Getting in Shape

Ok, since I have an eating problem--I love food, therefore I eat WAY too much of it--I need to cut back on calories if I ever want to be able to fit into an Abercrombie bikini with tiny little moose on them. So I'm going to start posting what I eat everyday. That way I wont overeat and feel like a cow.

So here's what I've ate today so far (I started out good, then lost my way...)

Breakfast:
100 calorie yogurt pretzel snack pack
100 calorie starbucks

Lunch:
450 calorie pepperoni pizza bagel
320 calorie Chocolate mudslide cookie
0 calorie extra large diet coke

Snack:
210 calorie chex mix
0 calorie bottle of cherry coke zero

Total: 1,180calories

And I haven't even ate dinner yet :(

So Far I'm Failing

Well, I haven't wrote a single word towards finishing my book. If I don't finish my book, I won't complete my Teenage Bucket list. If I don't complete my Teenage Bucket list, I won't get a publisher. If I don't get a publisher, I'll never earn a million dollars.

Somebody poke me and make me write!

Poem of the Day 6/22/11

I had my poetry class again this evening and a poem was discussed that I quite liked. So now I will share it with you. This poem comes from a poetry anthology called The Made Thing.

Narcissus and Echo
By Fred Chappell

Shall the water not remember            Ember
my hand's slow gesture, tracing above          of
is mirror my half-imaginary          airy
portrait? My only belonging        longing
is my beauty, which I take        ache
away and then return, as love         of
teasing playfully the one being            unbearing.
whose gratitute I treasure        Is your
moves me. I live apart      heart
from myself, yet cannot        not
live apart. In the water's tonem       stone?
that brilliant silence, a flower        Hour,
whispers my name with such a slight       light
moment, it seems filament of air,          fare
the world become cloudswell.         well.

This poem is what Fred Chappell refers to as a "Shadowbox". It's where he has one poem inside of another poem. When he reads this poem for an audience, he has his wife read the italicized portion from where she sits in the audience. It's also helpful to know the story of Narcissus and Echo before reading this poem. Beautiful, isn't it?

My Video Game List

Not only am I a writer, a poet, and an avid music lover--I'm a gamer girl. Sure, most of my conquests (otherwise known as games I've defeated 100%) are a little childish in nature, but I started gaming early and my Mom only plays games with me that she likes (Which would NOT be Assassin's Creed and COD--two wonderful games not on this list becuase I have not defeated them 100% yet). Heavy Rain isn't on this list either because I still haven't gotten the "See all different endings" trophy, which is the only thing keeping me away from platinum. Once Platinum status has been reached, then Heavy Rain will make its way onto this list.
Anyway, here is the list of video games I have defeated in my lifetime. (Working my way up to 100, which will allow me to cross off "Defeat 100 Video Games" from my Bucket List) Also it's not in any particular order. I was grouping them by system, but it became too much of a hassle.
